Students love to work with a partner to identify text features and share how the different text features help them understand the article/topic of the article. \r\n\r\nThe students' favorite part is always the fact that they get to take the article home with them and share it with their families! It has been so rewarding to see the students browsing and discovering a new book choice that they can't wait to check out. Out of about 220 students that can take out books, we average about 190 books each week that are being enjoyed. One of the favorites this time were the Pigeon series by Mo Willems. I can't keep those on the shelf!\r\n I firmly believe that developing a love of reading and being given the opportunity to choose books to borrow is so important to our young students as they develop their reading skills and build reading stamina. I've watched our students become more invested in our hallway library over the past few years as they seek out particular authors or inquire on various subjects.
