My Project

I am a Special Education teacher at KES located in Surprise, Arizona. My students are placed in a Structured Teaching Class (self-contained class) whose needs vary from mild to severe. Considering the strengths and interest of my students, they are very much capable of learning and acquiring new skills.

In maximizing their abilities to learn, I need to provide them a learning environment that would cater to their unique style of learning.

This is possible by utilizing manipulatives and classroom materials that would provide an engaging learning experience.

The requested materials such as playdough and kinetic sand would provide a sensory experience to my students and could prevent any form of behavior escalation in the classroom. Puzzles, counters, and manipulatives for math could provide a concrete learning and understanding of concepts in mathematics. Instructional materials for reading and writing would make these two learning areas more interesting for students struggling in reading and writing. Materials for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), such as magnetic tiles, crystal climbers, Architecture set would foster creativity and logical thinking among my students. Floor puzzles and a set of games would develop team work and enhance the interpersonal skills of my students.
