Everyone Needs a PEACE PLACE

My students need extrinsic tools to learn how to keep calm and focus on gaining self-control to regulate emotions. The fidget/sensory tools will assist with this and teach great coping strategies for healthy mental stability.

My Students

How can we promote positive mental health in the future of our citizens if we don't TEACH students and allow them to PRACTICE how to use strategies and coping skills in a positive, healthy and safe way to manage their feelings. Learning to identify and handle our emotions is a huge component of being able to focus and learn academics. If a student is struggling emotionally, academics success is limited.

Breathe in...Breathe out... If we can practice and model safe ways to handle stress, the learning environment will be impacted in a positive way where students feel comfortable to share feelings and invite problem solving solutions.

My Project

As students learn to identify their emotions they will be able to use special tools in the classroom to help them gain composure and self-regulate feelings to get back on task in the classroom.

One way to teach students healthy ways to deal with emotions such as frustration, anger, sadness, embarrassment, etc.

is to provide an outlet. Having a classroom "peace place" with a variety of choices of fidget and sensory tools have proven to assist with developing healthy and safe coping skills. This, in turn, will help to produce healthy and safe ways for students to express sometimes difficult feelings.

Teaching and practicing "peace place" techniques is beneficial because developing positive mental health strategies will put into place stronger mental stability when faced with future challenges.
