I am the School Counselor for Kindergarten thru fifth grade. We have students from a variety of different backgrounds and home life. What we all have in common is the ability to feel emotions. I would love for students to be able to express their emotions and identify what feelings they are going through. Ways to regulate that and help support them is to create environments where students feel safe to express themselves and to get back on track. Calm down kits in every classroom would enhance academic success as students learn how to self-advocate and practice strategies and coping skills to become students with strong character.
