First grade is a time for fun and learning. Students are continuing their educational journey, and my goal is to make it as fun and enjoyable as I can. My students come from a variety of backgrounds so they deserve to learn in a variety of ways. In order to meet those needs, we need to have a variety of materials and activities to learn from.
My goal is to make students feel comfortable, safe, and wanted.
In order to achieve this goal, I need to have a classroom that is set up to meet the needs of all learners. Everything from the types of seating available to the pictures on the wall is purposeful and meaningful to meet the needs of my students.
I love creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students. I hope to make my students' life-long lovers of learning as well as respectful, kind, and hard-working citizens.
My Project
The materials for this project hit on two important values I uphold in my classroom: comfort and equity. Flexible seating allows students to pick a way to work in which they are comfortable and it provides them the tools to be successful in their own learning. Not everyone learns in the same way and they need options to find what works best for them.
I believe that ALL students should feel comfortable and accepted in my classroom.
By including books that show a diversity of characters, holidays, cultures, traditions, etc. I can open my students hearts and minds to the wonderful world around us.
