My students need the TI 30X II calculators to multiply, divide, add and subtract very large and very small numbers. They will also learn to use the many functions on this particular calculator.
The majority of our students are African-American, and 60% are socioeconomically disadvantaged. A large number of our students are first-generation college-bound; it is the school's philosophy to ensure that 100% of our students have the opportunity to continue into higher education.
Many of our student body have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) because of special needs.
My students are high school freshmen, juniors, and seniors who are curious and constantly asking why and have trouble conceptualizing. Hands-on activities help to make a real-world connection for them. My students are caring, hardworking, empathetic, imaginative, and passionate. They are the future leaders of our local, state and national workforce.
My Project
When students have the proper tools at their disposal, they are able to follow along with the class. We are in need of these tools. The TI 30X II calculator will ensure that all students have this tool at their disposal.
Currently, there are 6 calculators in my class to use in a class of 30.
Many cell phone calculators are unable to perform the extremely large numbers, small numbers, and functions required for chemistry and physical science. Large and small numbers can be simplified by using the exponent function on the TI 30 calculator. This amazing tool cost less than sixteen dollars and will help our students in the class.
