My Project

My kindergarten students are curious, energetic, creative, and full of wonder, and I love watching their faces light up when they discover something new. In kindergarten, learning happens everywhere—even on the floor!

Our classroom puzzle rug would give my students a colorful, inviting space where they can gather, learn, play, and build connections with one another.

The bright puzzle pieces will provide a visual reminder that every child is an important piece of our classroom community.

We will use the rug during morning meetings, read-alouds, phonics and math activities, movement breaks, partner learning, small-group instruction, and hands-on games. The colorful spaces can also help students practice positional words, colors, counting, patterns, sorting, and following directions while developing important social-emotional skills such as sharing, cooperation, listening, and taking turns.

Most importantly, this rug will help transform an ordinary classroom space into a warm and joyful learning environment where my students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their successes. Each piece of the rug represents something special about my students, and together, those pieces create a classroom where everyone belongs, everyone can learn, and everyone can shine!
