Have you ever sat on a hard surface and were expected to sit there and listen to a story or conversation, but the only thing you can think of is getting up and stretching because your body is in pain? Well that is how my students feel!
I have a first grade bilingual class with some struggling readers and I am focused on getting them motivated.
I encourage them to pick out books from our classroom library during independent reading and find a place on the floor and get comfortable, but it is hard when the only place to sit is a hard surface.
My Project
With these new sitting pillows and arm chair my student will be excited to find a seat on the floor and read! It will be exciting for their table to be the ones who get the soft pillows. No one wants to do something when they are not comfortable, and my focus is to make reading fun!
It is so important for my students to build their literacy skills.
Many of them are struggling and do not have access to books at home, so I am looking for ways to encourage them to pick up a good book, make themselves comfortable, and read! So help us out!
