My Students

I want to teach my students that bullying is wrong. Our goal is to create a "bully-free zone" and teach my students how to express themselves and show them how to treat each other.

My students love to come to school.

They are highly motivated and usually very kind hearted. However, they are entering an age where peer pressure begins to play a larger and larger role in their daily lives. My students are still learning how to navigate social situations and sometimes bullying takes place on the playground. I want to provide my students with information on how to identify and prevent bullying. I also want them to have an outlet to express themselves when they feel bullying has occurred.

My Project

Books that don't rip, tear or get worn out? That is a dream come true! The Nook’s technology helps little fingers do big things! With just a simple tap, a child controls the story and can jump into an interactive adventure by expanding text and zooming into pictures. Books can be added to the Nooks on an ongoing basis. As anti-bullying materials are added, they can be shared with students and teachers. The Nook will also help decrease bullying behaviors because all students can be seen as readers and it won’t matter what their reading level. In order to protect our classroom Nooks for future classes, I am requesting thirteen protective covers. I am also requesting copies of “Bullying in Schools” to help my students recognize bullying behavior and how to prevent it. I think this book will open up conversations in the classroom on what it means to be a friend to others.

This project will assist in teaching my students character skills that will last a lifetime.

We need to start standing up to bullies and it all begins with knowledge. Please help my students reach the goal of a "bully-free zone" at school!
