Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This was my first school year to teach yoga in high school and it has been a success. Students have improved their mental and physical health by spending about 35 minutes a day on their yoga mats. One challenge has been keeping our mats clean. I purchased spray bottles, paper towels, and a bucket, then I made some homemade mat cleaner. Unfortunately, the paper towels ran out quickly, and the school paper towels do not absorb very well. Also, the mat cleaner wasn't the best for removing stubborn dirt. I am asking for mat wipes for my yoga students, in order to give my yogis a more hygienic practice.

My students also need yoga straps to help them deepen their poses and improve flexibility.

Specifically, we could use them during seated forward fold, dancer pose, king pigeon, and boat pose. Yoga straps are an essential prop to help students grow their yoga practice. My students already have yoga mats and yoga blocks, thanks to Donors Choose. A strap is the next important item to help accommodate yoga students as they challenge themselves to expand their practice.
