Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The goal of this project is to provide Early College and honors English students at a public school district with the same kind of everyday learning supplies their better-funded peers in other districts would have at their disposal (e.g., pencils, paper, post-it notes, highlighters). Learners who would benefit from this project attend an urban high school and need additional supports, like snacks, to help them grow. These Early College and honors English 10 students are eager to read, write, and engage with texts as they prepare for Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, and other 11th/12th grade English courses.

Miss Von Knauer's students love learning and are in need of a high quality learning environment!

The first cohort of sophomore Early College students at our public high school are learning essential postsecondary reading and writing skills to ensure success in college literature and composition courses. This means they need access to great annotation tools like a variety of post-it notes, highlighters, etc. To prepare themselves for writing beyond the high school classroom they also need materials like pencils and paper.
