This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students whom I serve have experienced physical and emotional trauma, recently, as a result of the 2019 tornado. Not only were their homes and families effected, but our school was also destroyed and deemed a complete loss by the district. Most of these students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are first generation United States citizens. Therefore, these students have a greater need for the opportunity that a good education can provide.

Supporting this project would positively impact these students' education, emotional well-being, and could skyrocket the trajectory of their futures.

My Project

After the tornado, our school was deemed a complete loss. As such, we lost much of our classroom supplies, personal possessions, and access to necessary technologies. One of the many objects lost in my classroom was a speaker. When we watch connection videos, vocabulary activities, and such, we need a speaker to be able to listen to the audio. Furthermore, the new school that half of us have been relocated to, is poorly equipped for the influx of teachers and students. One of the biggest issues is the ability to print necessary documents and classwork. The printer would make life easier for myself and my students.
