My students need a class set of Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief in order to complete a whole group reading.

My Students

My school is very large and growing rapidly. This coming year we are expected to have 1900 students. The classrooms are full but a welcoming place to be. Students enjoy coming to school each day to learn new ideas.

My classroom is very diverse.

I have multiple level of students which include special education students, as well as English language learners. Although, there are multiple levels of students within my classroom, each student is given what they need in order to succeed.

My Project

Reading novels as a whole class is part of our curriculum. Percy Jackson is part of one unit that we do not have any novels for.

In the past, I have always seen the excitement students get from reading this book and I would like to share in their excitement this year.

While reading this novel as a whole class, students will look into multiple literary elements. In addition, students will use the novel in order to compare to multiple different texts. After reading the novel, students will be able to look at the big idea and answer the question: how does history inform and inspire us.
