How to engage readers who are reluctant to read books!

I am a third year teacher working in a North Carolina public school.

At my school, I teach eighth grade students English Language Arts (ELA). My students come from a variety of academic backgrounds and a variety of reading interests. To help all of my students succeed, they need to be exposed to more books and authors within the classrooms.

My Project

I am working towards a classroom library filled with a variety of books from several genres that will appeal to my students. Gaining new books for my classroom library would allow my students to have a wider selection of books to read. The more books available to my students would mean that they would be exposed to new authors and to the classics that everyone loves.

By donating one or several books to my classroom, you will be giving one of my students the chance to discover a new land, a friend, or something new within themselves.

With every new book, my students will be able to improve their reading comprehension skills and their joy of reading. By having a large selection of books in my classroom, my students will be able to find books that appeal to them and hopefully give them the life long love of reading.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
