Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My second graders are a vibrant, hardworking, and diverse group of young learners. Our classroom is a beautiful mosaic of cultures, languages, and abilities.

The primary goal of this project is to create an inclusive and adaptable learning environment that respects the diverse physical and cognitive needs of every student.

For my students with specific learning disabilities, the subtle movement allowed by these stools provides the sensory regulation and energy channeling students need to concentrate. For multilingual learners and struggling readers, a choice in seating builds a sense of comfort and ownership in the classroom.

This welcoming environment reduces anxiety, making it easier for them to participate in collaborative conversations and take the risks necessary to acquire a new language. Moreover, the stools are easy to move, facilitating small group work and peer interaction, which is essential for language development and social skills.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
