My Students

My kindergarten students come to school every day eager and excited to learn despite many challenges some are facing. I teach in a low income/high poverty school in the inner city. Eighty-three percent of our students receive free or reduced-price​ lunch. Many of my students are English language learners. Diversity is recognized, accepted and promoted in our classroom and school.

The 5 best words to describe my students are curious, cheerful, determined, imaginative, and energetic.

In our classroom creativity, innovation, and initiative are encouraged and celebrated. Children are given time to explore, make related discoveries, and experience enriched hands-on activities. High expectation of learning is set for all my students in an environment that is honest, respectful, caring and safe for all.

I'm always looking for ways to reach all my students and provide them with the best kindergarten experience I can. Thanks to DonorsChoose.org, I am able to provide many resources my students would otherwise have to go without.

My Project

This year is being brought to you by Seesaw, an online platform. Seesaw encourages creativity, expression, and feedback that makes students excited to learn. As I am learning an entirely new way to teach kindergarten I am finding I need new and different resources. Teachers Pay Teachers is a marketplace where teachers can buy resources in digital and downloadable formats to use in their own classrooms. The gift cards will allow me to purchase clipart to create my own lessons, and ready made units to upload to Seesaw to engage my kinder kiddos in their learning.

From small beginnings, come great things.
