Empowering Our SPED Students Through Real-World Interview Experience

Help me give my students the opportunity to step into professional spaces with confidence, practice real-world skills in a supportive environment, and experience the encouragement and preparation they need to pursue meaningful employment and independent futures.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, capable, and full of potential, but many of them do not often get access to authentic professional development opportunities. As a Special Education (SPED) educator, I work with students who benefit greatly from hands-on, real-world practice to build confidence, communication skills, and independence.

We are hosting a professional Mock Interview Day where our students will participate in mock interviews with community professionals.

These volunteers will conduct realistic interviews and provide meaningful, constructive feedback to help our students strengthen their interview skills, improve their resumes, and better prepare for employment after graduation.

For many of my students, this will be their first time sitting across from a professional in a formal interview setting. It is an opportunity to practice self-advocacy, build confidence, and envision themselves in future careers.

Because this is a long event that requires focus, stamina, and courage, we want to provide snacks and light refreshments for our students. Having access to food will help maintain energy levels, reduce anxiety, and create a welcoming, supportive environment where students can focus on performing their best.

Our students deserve access to the same career-building opportunities as their peers. Your support will help remove barriers, create equity, and show our students that their futures matter.

Thank you for helping us invest in their confidence, independence, and success.
