Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Visual arts education provides students with opportunities to express themselves, build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and explore creativity in meaningful ways. Unfortunately, limited school funding for the arts often restricts the variety and quantity of materials available to students. My goal for this project is to create a classroom environment where every learner — including students in regular education classes and students with disabilities — has access to engaging, high-quality art supplies that support their individual learning styles and creative abilities. By providing a wider range of materials beyond traditional classroom basics, students will be encouraged to explore, experiment, and create artwork that is both personal and meaningful.

In addition to expanding access to nontraditional art materials, this project will also help enrich students’ understanding of traditional artistic techniques through greater color variety, texture exploration, and hands-on experiences.

Many students learn best through tactile, visual, and creative approaches, and having diverse materials available allows them to fully participate and succeed in the art room. These supplies will help foster inclusion, independence, and creative confidence while allowing students to discover new ways to communicate ideas and emotions through art. Not only will the student partake in creating art, but also learn a life skill of keeping their work organized with the tray organizers. With the right tools and opportunities, every student can experience the joy and accomplishment that comes from creating something uniquely their own.
