Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 6th-grade classroom serves students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) who work hard every day to overcome challenges in reading, writing, and organization. Many of my students struggle with processing written text, expressing their ideas on paper, and staying organized with assignments. Despite these challenges, they are motivated, creative, and eager to learn when given the right tools.

This project will provide a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE tablet and keyboard case, which will serve as an essential assistive technology tool in our classroom.

With this device, students will be able to access supports that level the playing field and allow them to fully participate in learning.

Using the tablet, students can utilize text-to-speech tools to support reading comprehension, use speech-to-text features to express their ideas in writing, organize assignments and materials digitally, engage with interactive learning apps tailored to their needs, and build independence and confidence in completing academic tasks.

The included keyboard case will allow students to practice typing skills and complete writing assignments more efficiently, reducing frustration often caused by handwriting difficulties. For students with SLD, access to assistive technology is not a luxury—it is a necessity. This tablet will help remove barriers to learning and give students the opportunity to demonstrate their true abilities. It will also promote engagement, increase participation, and support differentiated instruction in a meaningful way.

Your support will directly impact students by providing them with tools that foster independence, confidence, and academic success. With this technology, my students will not only improve their skills but also begin to see themselves as capable and successful learners.
