My Project

Our current mythology section is critically outdated, with an average publication date of 1964. This lack of relevant material disconnects our urban high school students from powerful, foundational stories. We are requesting a collection of new, inclusive mythology books that dramatically expand beyond the traditional Greek and Norse canons.

These books feature vibrant tales from diverse cultures and perspectives across Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

By modernizing this section, we directly address the need for inclusivity, allowing every student to see their heritage and community reflected in the library’s offerings. Access to diverse global mythologies not only boosts literacy and engagement but also fosters essential cross-cultural understanding and critical analysis skills. Investing in these current and relevant resources is an investment in modern education and better global citizens.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
