Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my students are from diverse backgrounds and the majority of them are English learners. They are eager to learn, but the language barrier often holds them back. I tried to choose resources that focus on their language arts and communication skills. For example, the vocabulary journals help them to have a richer word bank and feel more confident when they are speaking.
I believe that if they have enough learning resources, they can achieve higher academic goals.
Most if not all of them have rough lives. They are going through some sort of trauma - from being separated from their parent(s) to having parents who work long hour shifts to provide for the family. Two third of my students are Latinos.
My Project
Education is the key to reduce poverty and fight ignorance. This is why I want to empower my students and I need your help to support them.
The majority of my students are from low socioeconomic status backgrounds.
These kids are bright and ready to learn but they cannot afford basic learning supplies. I am asking for essential materials for my classroom that take the burden of buying them off my students and their families.
It may be hard for us to believe someone cannot afford to buy a notebook or writing supplies, but the struggle is real. What is better than helping these kids to become successful leaders of our country?
