My Project

Hi! I am a special education teacher supporting all types of learners at Maui's newest high school. I am specifically trying to close the math gap with my 9th and 10th graders. I am requesting math materials that are essential to the secondary curriculum. Now that we are halfway through the school year I am seeing which materials are imperative, especially since we are a brand-new school starting from the ground up. My students need compasses and patty paper to be successful in geometry. My algebra students require graphing paper and rulers. I am also requesting materials that will accelerate the learning of students who are falling behind such as calculators, workbooks, and classroom posters. All students benefit from simple supplies such as folders and composition books to organize assignments and notes. Additionally, I am requesting books for struggling readers who are often intimidated by algebra word problems. Our students need not be afraid of math. With the right tools to guide them, they can rediscover the wonderful world of math. Please help me with this increasingly important endeavor.
