Edison Expanded-Exploring Light and Light Energy

Help me give my students 8 Elementary Light, Color and Shadow Kits for my students to explore that light travels in a straight line until it strikes an object or travels from one medium to another.

My Students

I teach 5th-grade science and social studies. We have a diverse community of students. We are an "A" school so many families from out of our are seek special permission to attend our school.

My students are enthralled by hands-on lab experiments.

However, many have never even added vinegar to baking soda much less had a hands-on STEM experience. They enjoy being called scientists as it empowers them to be more engaging and take ownership of their work.

My Project

Children always have a fascination with light. What kid hasn't played with the reflection off of a shiny object or flashed a laser pointer or multiple surfaces.

By purchasing the light sets, my students will be able to safely experiment with light reflection and refraction.

By adding the solar kits, the children will be able to experience first hand that light energy is a powerful and useful source of energy.

If you provide my class with these hands-on opportunities, my students will be better prepared to apply the lessons they learned to higher levels of problem solving.
