My Project

My students are naturally curious about how the Earth works, and they especially light up when science becomes something they can see, touch, and explore. What I love most about them is their willingness to dive into challenging ideas, and their effort, even when the concepts are complex. They collaborate, ask thoughtful questions, and genuinely enjoy discovering answers together. This plate tectonics kit and map project is designed to build on that curiosity by giving them hands-on tools to investigate how and why Earth's surface is constantly changing.

This project will include a detailed plate tectonic map along with hands-on modeling materials that help students visualize and simulate the movement of Earth's plates.

The map will serve as a visual anchor, helping students identify boundaries, earthquakes, and volcano zones around the world. The kit will allow them to model plate interactions like collisions, separations, and sliding movements. These resources will make a huge difference by turning abstract ideas into concrete experiences. Additionally, it will support students understanding of how earthquakes, mountains, and volcanoes are formed.

The goal of this project is to deepen students' understanding of Earth science, while strengthening their ability to think critically, make connections, and explain natural phenomena. I want my students to leave this unit not only with strong academic knowledge, but also with confidence in their ability to explore scientific ideas independently. This project will empower them to think like scientists and develop a lasting appreciation for the dynamic planet we live on.
