Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students arrive at our school from all over the world: from Angola, Congo, Somalia, Sudan, South Korea, and Afghanistan, to name a few. Nearly 80% of our students live in poverty, and more than half are English Language Learners. More and more of our learners are homeless or are living in shelters, church basements, and other temporary housing or are doubled up with relatives.

They come to school each day, eager to learn and play, despite their circumstances.

These materials (paints, slime, bubbles, etc.) are supplies for earned choice time for kids who are chosen through our school wide positive behavior system for an extra recess or activity.
