My Students

Teaching students about the landforms, habitats, and indigenous animals and plants of a state is a difficult task. In an effort to allow our 150 third graders the opportunity to work together to complete a project, my team is invested in creating a train ride through our state.

Our third graders range from poverty level to middle upper class levels of economic statuses.

Many of our families have never traveled through the beautiful regions of SC. Even though we live close to the ocean, some have never visited the beach. The majority have never been to the mountains.

My Project

I am requesting deluxe express, big city, and town and country train sets along with the playdough. A grant opportunity with STEM in the Workplace from Boeing, provided training on using learning projects with students to enrich our curriculum. With this knowledge, my team of seven teachers have committed to exploring SC through creating a train which will travel through the Blue Ridge, Piedmont, Sand hills, Inner/Outer Coastal Plains, and Coastal Zone. Help our students create this educational model filled with the landforms, animals, plants, and industry which make our state what it is today.

Without your support our train ride will not become a reality.

For many of our families, spending the extra money to supply materials needed for this project is impossible. Help us in our exploration of our state.
