This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

“This will never be a civilized country until we expend more money for books than we do for chewing gum.” -Elbert Hubbard. Imagine a student's US History experience, hindered by limited access to varied reading material. Well, you've just imagined my classroom!

My students are a bright group of young historians, attending one of the finest academies for the arts in Texas.

They represent a recognized Title I school, and take pride in our school's proud tradition of academic success. Your contribution to their efforts will help ensure that our tradition continues.

My Project

I am requesting e-readers for the purpose of providing my students with a well-rounded reading experience in our US History classes. By putting a digital twist on reading in our History classroom, their imagination can be primed by the visual experience that e-readers provide. Moreover, the devices will actually be a cost saver, as the price for digital books is often significantly less than paper books. I plan to use the readers for group, pair, and individual activities.

The overall quality of any student's classroom experience depends on reading.

Access to a variety of literature is critical to that experience. With that considered, the e-readers that I am requesting will help ensure that all of my students have access to quality reading in my classroom.
