Previously, costumes were stored in random corners, making it stressful to find pieces during rehearsals. Now, students are sorting by category and production, labeling bins, and creating a system that saves time and keeps costumes in good condition. During a recent rehearsal, the actors were able to grab everything they needed in minutes—something that used to take half the class!\r\n\r\nThey were so excited to have a neat and organized system finally. Students took absolute ownership of the project, dividing tasks such as labeling, folding, and sorting. They loved that they were building something lasting for future productions, not just for their class this year.\r\n\r\nThe next step is putting our organized storage system into action for our upcoming plays. Students will now be responsible for checking costumes in and out, tracking what's been used, and keeping the bins in order. This builds responsibility and helps them learn the backstage process of running a show. It's laying the groundwork for a full student-run costume crew that will support all our productions going forward.","fullyFundedDate":1746787405249,"projectUrl":"project/the-taming-of-the-costume-closet/9089851/","projectTitle":"The Taming of the Costume Closet","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Powell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7985041_orig.jpg?crop=1122,1122,x0,y246&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630385410439","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7985041"},{"teacherId":7985041,"projectId":9217231,"letterContent":"Our students utilized the new resources to delve into The Wiz, working as designers. They studied the Broadway production and movie, then created their own costume models, learning how professional theatre artists tell stories visually. These models were later showcased at the Music Hall during the Broadway production of The Wiz—a moment that allowed our students to see their classroom work celebrated on a professional stage.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were buzzing with excitement. For many, it was their first time working with real theatre design supplies and tools. They couldn't believe they would get to create models like \"real designers.\" When their work was displayed at the Music Hall, their pride was unmatched—several students said it was the first time they felt like true artists, with their ideas taken seriously by the larger theatre community.\r\n\r\nThe next step is applying what they learned from The Wiz project to our fall production and our UIL One Act Play competition. Students are now using their design skills to brainstorm costumes, props, and set ideas, while others are working on acting. These experiences are preparing them to not only perform but also understand the full scope of theatre production—helping them grow into well-rounded young artists who are confident in their creative voices.","fullyFundedDate":1746786942747,"projectUrl":"project/behind-the-seams/9217231/","projectTitle":"Behind the Seams","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Powell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7985041_orig.jpg?crop=1122,1122,x0,y246&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630385410439","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7985041"},{"teacherId":2417121,"projectId":9010443,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in providing Apple Pencils for our students! Your kindness and generosity has provided my students and I with materials we use daily and that contribute to our success. In these uncertain economic times, every penny counts and I feel so blessed that you decided to use your resources to fund my classroom. I hope your kindness and positive karma is returned to you and your families.\r\n\r\nEvery item you helped fund has made a meaningful impact for my students and I. You've not only lightened the financial burden on me as a teacher and new mom, but you've directly impacted the learning for each of my students. The paper you provided has allowed me to print out notes for students to keep up with in their binders. The hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes has allowed us to stay clean during the varying seasons of sickness. The sharpies have allowed me to number my desks to help with my classroom structure. The headphones have allowed students to watch video lessons during my maternity leave and have been used to support supplemental learning opportunities in my class. \r\n\r\nMy students and I are so grateful to donors like you who are caring and helpful. While many people see Roombas as simple cleaning tools, in our class, it's a hands-on way to learn about sensors, automation, and how robots make decisions. Students get to see concepts like obstacle detection, pathfinding, and mapping in real time. It's much more engaging than just reading about it or watching videos. Seeing the Roomba react to its environment helps students understand how their own robots can be programmed to do similar tasks.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is watching the Roomba move on its own. They love guessing where it will go next and figuring out how it \"knows\" when to turn or avoid obstacles. It turns robotics concepts like input, processing, and output into something real and understandable. Students start to see connections between the Roomba's behavior and the robots they're building in class, which makes the learning feel more meaningful. It's a fun and interactive way to bring big ideas about robotics and automation to life.","fullyFundedDate":1726580995552,"projectUrl":"project/robotics-is-ready-to-roomba/8416129/","projectTitle":"Robotics Is Ready to Roomba!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Johnston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2417121_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1496358091121","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/tennille-johnston"},{"teacherId":2417121,"projectId":7004768,"letterContent":"Thank you so much to donating to our organization project. Having organized robotics supplies with plastic drawers, zipper bags, and a label maker has made a huge difference for our students. Now, they can easily find the parts they need without digging through messy bins or piles of pieces. This saves time and keeps them focused on building and programming instead of searching for missing parts. It also helps them stay responsible for cleaning up and putting materials back where they belong. With everything labeled and in its place, the whole class runs more smoothly, and students can get more done during each session. It's been a big win for both productivity and independence.\r\n\r\nThe new storage system has also made it easier for students to work as a team. When parts are easy to find, groups can divide tasks more efficiently—one student can grab the needed parts while others handle building or coding. This makes projects run faster and helps students practice real teamwork, just like they would in a real-world engineering job. Plus, it cuts down on stress and frustration since they're not wasting time looking for lost pieces. With less clutter and more structure, students feel more confident, take ownership of their projects, and stay more engaged in the learning process.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1670262141828,"projectUrl":"project/get-it-together-robotics/7004768/","projectTitle":"Get It Together, Robotics!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Johnston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2417121_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1496358091121","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/tennille-johnston"},{"teacherId":2417121,"projectId":8409265,"letterContent":"The support from our donors has made a huge impact on both my teaching and my students' learning experience.
