My Project

Funding this project will put hand drums into the hands of all students in our school! Because I teach elementary general music, the curriculum and instruments used reach every student in our school community, and are used throughout all of their elementary years. From their first early childhood experiences to their final performances as fifth graders, students will grow as musicians and as responsible, creative members of our Waterloo community.

The addition of these instruments and supplies will allow students more opportunities to access musical creativity and performance skills, while helping them to grow as collaborative members of our music classes.

Because children learn best when they are actively engaged, the hands-on opportunities afforded by these instruments in our music room will lead to deeper creative problem solving and skill development. Students will work together to learn musicianship skills in playful ways with meaningful activities. Through the school year, they will grow as musicians, learning ways to compose and perform their own music to share with our school community!
