This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Dr. Seuss wrote, "The more that you read, the more things you will know." Dr. Seuss was a genius in creating language patterns, rhythms, and rhymes. Students love Dr. Seuss and his stories are an important addition to their literacy development. Reading to children at an early age and inspiring them to love stories encourages them to be lifelong readers.

Many of my students say that reading time is their favorite part of the day!

My students attend a diverse, inner-city, Title I school where all of our students receive a free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students do not have grade-appropriate books at home. My students are sweet 6 year-olds who love to learn, often give me hugs, and have endless potential!

My Project

Dr. Seuss books will make a difference in my students' learning by promoting a love of reading and inspiring creativity and imagination. I'd like to create a Dr. Seuss themed classroom full of his beloved books. My students love it when I read books to them as well as when they read on their own. I would like two copies of each book, so students could check out a copy to take home to read with their parents or read to their younger siblings. Many of my students have not read any or many Dr. Seuss books. I believe that Dr. Seuss can help in promoting both literacy and cognitive development in young children--all while having fun!
