Double Dutch Bus: Going to a Black History Month Affair

Help me give my students artifacts (t-shirts, puzzles, etc.) that celebrate Black Joy for our Black History Month Museum. Imagine dreaming of being in the Caribbean as you hear Steel Drum music playing while you visit our exhibits.

My Project

"There's a double dutch bus coming down the street," my students realize it is moving pretty fast. They gotta kinda shuffle their feet. My students realize how important it's for them to get on the bus and pay their fare. My students understand they need to tell the driver they're going to a BHM Interactive Living Museum. My students know when they go to work they've gotta go to school. They understand if they missed the train, it's a shame. When they're running late, there is no one to blame. They know everybody's getting down at our BHM Celebration and there is so much Black Joy to see, hear, smell, and taste you can feel the excitement in the air. They know we're going to be grooving learning so much about our history, culture & heritage. They understand we really turn it on at our BHM Celebration.

There's a double dutch bus coming down the street...moving pretty fast so kinda shuffle your feet...get on the bus and pay your fare and tell the driver that you're going to a BHM Affair.

The steel drum will help my student to understand the flavor of Caribbean music as they wander through our Caribbean exhibit. The different t-shirts will remind my student's that they are fulfilling their ancestors' wildest dreams. The t-shirts will send message that their history didn't start with slavery, but with Kings and Queens. The t-shirts will remind them that each of us possess superpowers like Falcon, Black Panther, and Storm and that family is important like The Proud Family. The puzzles, books, and Steam Kits will encourage our students to continue to make the impossible possible. My students will leave our BHM Affair knowing, "With our futures ahead of us and the ancestors behind us, there's nothing we can't do!"
