Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kiddos are truly amazing! We are a family! The world is full of turmoil, and I need my students to know our classroom is a safe place to "just be." They love to learn, and get their "hands dirty." My students are a hands-on group. I try to teach them in creative ways. I have to admit, learning is more fun that way! They are learning to explain their thinking, collaborate, and persevere.

Our classroom is student centered.

They need to move around to experience learning. I use Station Rotations which allow my kiddos to own their learning. I want them to be responsible and more self-reflective. We will not allow the fact that we are a Title I School (which means a high percentage of our children come from low-income families) affect our learning. Our future is limitless.

My Project

Headphones are an indispensable tool for students. Not only do they allow students to pay closer to attention to what they are listening to, it allows them to practice their speaking skills by using the microphone. Before headphones/microphones, my students could easily be distracted. Their voice would not be picked up easily by the computer. However, the use of headphones with microphones will be a game changer. My kiddos will not just hear but be able to listen with concentration. The mic will capture the sound of their voices clearly and accurately. Most of my assignments focus on helping students to become a stronger communicator. Students use Flipgrid and Screencastify to work on their speaking and listening skills. The headphones with attached microphones will optimize their learning experience while strengthening their communication skills.
