Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I School with 99% low income children. My students are very diverse with a variety of learning styles and need. We provide free breakfast and lunch to every child. They do not have a safe neighborhood in which to play. We try to make school a safe and welcoming, fun experience.

That being said, they are the most rewarding children to teach!

They have and will continue to overcome many obstacles and learn in spite of their struggles.

I want to give these students every experience that I can.

We have approximately 320 students in grades K-5. My students come from places such as Somalia, Kenya, Dominican Republic, Columbia, Peru, and Puerto Rico, and locally.

My Project

I would love to introduce my students to a way they can use both technology and creativity to turn their projects up a notch. I plan to teach my students how to use the Design Space software to add special touches to their projects. Some other ways we plan to use this is bulletin boards, motivational signs, and student T-shirt’s for field day. Can you imagine the pride my elementary students would get by designing, making and wearing their own designs? How about showing their parents a showcase of their projects? I can also use the Cricut to make certificates to honor their goals by making personalized items for their achievements!

A Cricut machine will bring personality to their work!

Some of our students -believe it or not- dislike drawing. This will allow them to add the extra to their project with the stress of having to draw. In the end, they will have a project they will be happy and proud to share with their class.
