This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students and I started something called Don's Closet which provides gently used clothing, personal hygiene, and care items for our low-income students. Often our students are struggling at home and only have enough money for limited items and barely enough food.

By providing warm clothing during the colder months and personal care items, students can feel confident with their hygiene and clothing.

Items like clean socks and deodorant will allow them the confidence they need to focus on their academics and not try to fit in or hide because of how they look or smell. Our students are primarily lower income and deserve to have a positive experience at school just like everyone else.
