My students are facing troubled times. They are a smart and creative bunch of loveable students. Although they attend a Title I school and have limited resources at home, they strive to be the best that they can. Through this pandemic, my students are still trying to maintain normalcy in the virtual setting.
Every child should be given social and emotional support and a quality education despite their current educational setting.
I encourage my students to be goal-oriented and reach for the stars. They are self-directed learners, and together we are working to close the achievement gap. We are striving together to become the future leaders they are meant to be. COVID-19 will not stop our students from getting a quality education and being their best.
Imagine assigning an assignment and having the students ask for help. That’s what I’m facing in this virtual world. My students were provided with Microsoft Tablets, and it was a blessing in disguise. However, I don’t know how or can’t help my students find what they need because our devices are different.
This Microsoft Surface tablet will allow me to see what my students see.
I will be able to guide them to their assignments, give them tutorials, and ensure that they can locate their classwork, homework, and class materials. Instead of guessing what to tell them, I can walk them through step-by-step with the same device that they have . This will cut down time we spend for locating assignments and leave more time for classroom instruction.
I will have a carbon copy device of what all my students have. This will be beneficial for the virtual classroom and will help create a positive relationship between me and my students. I will be able to see what they see and successfully guide them to the right app or website.
