The simplest things can be the most beautiful thing. My students have heard about butterflies but does not know how they become butterflies. We have read and discussed. We have even made models out of food art. It doesn't seem realistic unless they have a hands on approach. They want to complete the life cycle!! My intention is to give each student the responsibility of feeding and nurturing a caterpillar into a butterfly. Giving them the opportunity to grow something of their own and watch them fly away. It sounds simple . However, this is an opportunity that is not afforded to most of the students in my classroom. Its a project that rewards them in the end and allows them to maintain being sweet little angels.
