This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing!

I teach every child in the building and the children are curious, joyful and love to learn.

Our school is located in Illinois. Our school population is 93% African-American, 3% Caucasian, 3% Hispanic and 1% Asian. Over 75% of our students receive free or reduced-priced lunch.

They face a lot of challenges and don't have the same access to opportunities as students in many other schools have but despite this fact, our students are eager to learn and are driven to succeed!

My Project

Many things that we take for granted, some of our student wish they had. I do everything I can to help my students be the best they can but lately that seems very hard.

Many students are unable to complete classwork due to headphones not working.

One ear works and one ear doesn't and even sometimes both ears are not working.

With that said, my classroom and students are in need of supplies and technology equipment to help them succeed. The computer lab is over 5 years old and after seeing 400 students twice a week it takes a toll on the equipment. Therefore, we are only able to utilize these computers for basic typing, internet research when the computers do not freeze.
