My Project

Students love when they get to go into the lab and perform experiments, and the more equipment and modern techniques we can use, the better. I want to be able to expose my students to the latest technological advances as we cover our unit on biotechnology.

With these DNA samples, my Biology students will be able to carry out agarose gel electrophoresis to perform DNA fingerprinting.

The DNA fingerprinting they see on TV will be the same experiments we will be doing in our class. I can only imagine the satisfaction my students will feel when they are able to get their hands on all of the modern laboratory equipment that they will use to carry out this investigation. In addition, this particular set of samples provide a compelling story for students to follow as we try to solve a crime and determine whodunit.
