DIY Fidgets in Elementary STEAM

Help me give my students materials to make their own fidget devices. They will use the engineering design method to plan out their fidgets and 3D printing tools to create the finished product.

My Project

Students will design their own fidget tools such as fidget spinners or interlocking devices. They will use the engineering design method to plan out their fidget. Then they will use 3D modeling software, 3D printers, and 3D pens to build and test their fidget tools. Materials will include colorful 3D filaments and fidget bearings and caps. Students will be encouraged to test out their fidgets for durability.

Once students have created their fidget objects, they will be able to use them when needed in class or donate them to a classroom.

Top designs can be recreated to be reused again. Students will experience product design from paper to product.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
