Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A diverse and dynamic group of learners. Twenty-five little ones eager to jump at the opportunity to become successful and independent readers and writers this year and for the years to come.

My students come from various backgrounds and academic levels, but they are all in my room for one reason, and that is to learn.

They come to school each day with the notion that they CAN because I believe in them and they are learning to believe in themselves.

They are getting to know themselves as learners and figuring out how they learn best and ways that they can adapt to be successful. For such young individuals, they have already overcome so much in their education.

My Project

These amazing books will be great mentor texts for students. Some of these books are mirror books that will allow students to see themselves in a story. Other books are window books that will allow students to see and learn about cultures and traditions other than their own. And a few of these books are sliding glass door books that will allow students to step right into the stories and learn about the world and experiences around us. These mentor texts will provide my students with opportunities to learn about others where they may not have another chance.
