My Students
I feel privileged to work with an extremely diverse groups of students every day who despite the daily challenges in their lives come to school eager and excited to learn. Many of my students are refugees and first generation US citizen who are not only trying to learn the complex topics covered in 5th grade but are also trying to learn and adapt to the way of life in the United States.
Everyday is an opportunity to learn, grow and explore something new!
My students embrace the opportunity to learn new things every day and I want to provide them with the materials to explore diverse cultures, and engage in hands on, engaging instruction in math and science.
My Project
Nothing is better than a classroom with a well-stocked library! However, while we have a plentiful library there are several important pieces missing in the shelves in our classroom. I want my students to have the opportunity to read diverse books on the shelves that they explore every day.
My students should see themselves in the books that they are reading!
Students should be able to read books that show familiar faces from history while also representing the diverse cultural backgrounds that comprise our classroom. I want my students to read about important people from history as well as from cultures that they can relate to and learn from. We need quality books that show diversity. I want my students to be inspired, uplifted and validated by the books they read every day.
