My Students

I work with striving readers, grades TK-5. What I love about our students is their excitement over reading and learning. They read individually, in partnerships and in small groups. They read a variety of genres. We are working on providing them with books where they can see themselves and learn about other perspectives, cultures, languages, and abilities. They love to share what they read with their friends during book buzz, during book commercials, or discussing texts in book clubs. They are hard working and always try their best. I am lucky to learn from them every day.

My Project

I work with striving readers in K-5. They are tenacious, trying their best every day. They love to share what they read with others during book buzz, book club discussions, and reading and writing celebrations.

They need books that they can see themselves in as well as learn about people who have different beliefs, cultures, languages, gender identities, races and abilities.

I am very grateful for the grant that was funded to help build our upper grade bookroom. I want to provide the same quality texts for our younger students. Housing multiple copies of these books in our shared bookrooms makes the texts available to the entire school to use during guided reading, interactive read aloud, book clubs and as mentor texts in reading and writing workshops.
