My Students

My incredible scholars are motivated dreamers with aspirations of becoming successful biomedical & health science professionals. They are a diverse group who come from varied life experiences. My scholars are focused, mature, and have chosen to be a part of an intellectually challenging high school pathway.

I want to make certain that I can provide my scholars with real life, hands-on learning experiences that further allow them to make connections to the content they are learning.

While my scholars face many hardships in their daily lives, school is one place where they can have access to the resources to explore their passions and develop lifelong skills that will prepare them for life beyond our classroom.

My Project

Scholars can only learn so much about internal anatomy by looking at books or poking around online. If they want to learn about how complex body systems are and how they work, there comes a time when they have to dissect actual organs.

Learning about the human body including the structure and function of each of the organ systems while incorporating mammalian dissections will have more meaning as these future biomedical professionals engage in authentic, hands-on learning.

The materials for the dissection labs will not only allow scholars to visualize organs and how they interact with other parts of the body, they will also help them to develop skills of observation and comparison, discover shared and unique structures and processes of specific organisms, and deepen their appreciation for the complexity of life.
