My Project

I teach a 6-8th grade self-contained classroom. Much of my instruction is focused on phonics and learning the basics of reading. Many of my students struggle to read. That struggle often turns into a severe dislike once they hit middle school. A calming classroom library tailored to the needs of my students could help reverse their negative attitudes toward reading.

This project included bookshelves with comfortable seating areas on top, a variety of books to provide "windows and mirrors" to my students, and bins to organize the books.

Additional supplies, such as a rug, weighted blankets, pillows, and other items to provide a comfortable environment to read will be included in a future project.
