Digital Media Students Need A Professional Video Camera

My Project

I teach digital media arts lessons in a K-8 school where my students are frequently making videos using cameras I've purchased from thrift stores. These cameras do the job, but they are showing their age and breaking down in a variety of ways.

The goal of this project is to fund a new 4K camera with a 20x optical zoom and enough inputs and outputs to make it easier to record high-quality video and audio.

It will be used in combination with our other tools to allow as many students as possible to become familiar with the current methods and standards of video production.

There are less expensive cameras with modern sensors capable of 4K, but few also have an optical zoom AND the ability to record student productions that are over an hour long. This camera will also help with the weekly news show we're starting up this year, so it is our intention that it gets a lot of use on a weekly, if not daily, basis.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
