Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is unique because it is a combination class of TK and Kindergarten. I dedicate instruction time towards giving students a voice by providing opportunities for responsibility.

As young academics, my students are learning HOW to learn and I support them by providing rich hands-on experiences.

Instruction takes place both in small group and whole group sessions with a focus on community building and social development.

I support the children by providing a variety of learning experiences that are aligned with the curriculum. Some of these experiences include performing arts, environmental science, and project-based learning rooted in STEAM units.

My students are fearless when it comes to trying new things and as resilient problem-solvers, they need to feel prepared to use a variety of 21st-century resources when met with challenges.

My Project

As a new educator, I am seeking to enhance my effectiveness as a 21st-Century leader. I want to show my students how technology can be used each and every day by providing an example of how it can be used independently.

Many of my students come from low-income households and some do not have access to personal computers, tablets, or laptops.

It is essential to include blended learning into the curriculum so that students develop digital agency during the age of technology.

Using the iPad device, I will teach students time management and organizational skills through the use of simple applications such as setting alarms and reminders. As they become more confident with the general usage of the tool, I will emphasize that they have choices among numerous applications within the device to personalize its function.

In addition to providing a platform to teach essential blended learning skills, the iPad will allow me to respond to student work thoroughly and track their progress in real-time. I will use the qualitative and quantitative data that is produced to plan lessons that fit the needs of each student.
