Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our wonderful school is in a high-poverty area in Chicago. My third-fifth grade students are polite, well-mannered, hard-working students who come from good homes. All of my students are diverse learners with intellectual disabilities; many come from another country or are first-generation Americans. They all face challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite their obstacles, my students come into my classroom eager to learn and do their best every day. These students are extremely diverse in terms of academic ability. This diversity is great, but, as a teacher, it can be a challenge to reach all my students when they are at different levels academically.

My goal is to make sure that all students, regardless of where they are academically, have all the tools they need to be successful and become lifelong learners.

Each and every one of them has the potential to be successful. I want to equal the playing field for my students so they have all the tools necessary to excel in school and in life. My students would be so appreciative of any help you could provide.

My Project

With diverse learners, it is so important to have online experiences that are fun-filled and engaging to all. Teachers Pay Teachers is a website where teachers sell the resources they created to other teachers. This site has tons of resources for both online and in-person learners, including Boom cards. Boom cards are a platform for virtual and in-person learning. Boom cards will keep my students engaged in all subjects. Having access to Boom cards allows my students the ability to increase their understanding of different topics through interactive games.

I will be able to assign cards to students by academic need, using the data collected from each student's Boom card report.

Audio directions will make it easy for the students to be more independent. Boom cards are a great way to work on each student's individual goals. They will be used virtually, in person, and they can be used year after year for student enjoyment.
