Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These books will help to create an environment where students are immersed in a variety of genres. Currently, my classroom is stocked with donations from other classes. These consist mostly of outdated books that are no longer relevant or engaging to students. There are no graphic novels or nonfiction books.

I have some of the most amazing students, but they often tell me they have never read a book that interests them.

Throughout the school year I have watched my students struggle to find a book that they can relate to. I have listened when students said they wished there was a certain topic or type of book in my library. This collection of books will increase student engagement during reading time while while also connecting them to authors who represent minorities.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
