My Project

Designing for Safety: An Inflatable Paint Booth for STEM Learning

In our science and engineering classroom, students regularly design, build, and test hands-on projects that reflect real-world engineering practices.

From prototype models to applied design challenges, creativity and problem-solving are at the heart of our learning. However, safely managing fumes during painting and finishing stages has become a significant limitation.

This project will provide an inflatable paint booth that allows students to safely complete engineering and science projects while learning the importance of air quality, ventilation, and workplace safety. With proper airflow and fume control, students can focus on refining their designs while gaining firsthand experience with professional engineering standards.

The paint booth will support lessons in:

Engineering design and iteration

Lab safety and environmental health

Materials science and surface finishing

Real-world applications of ventilation and airflow

By using this equipment, students will learn that engineering is not just about building something that works—it’s also about designing responsibly and protecting people and the environment. The booth will enable more complex, authentic projects while ensuring our classroom remains a safe learning space for all students.
