My students need new academic centers that would be delight to attend to while they build foundation skills for literacy, math, science, spatial and fine motor.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come into my classroom every morning full of energy! Our school in Springfield, Massachusetts provides 100% of the students with free breakfast and free lunch. I am grateful that the students begin their day with a healthy breakfast. Then we do activities together to build community and a safe environment for learning. Students learn in whole group and in small group.
Literacy centers are designed to promote academic growth through many different experiences.
Students begin school at different levels of academic awareness. Some children have attended preschool while others have not. Even though there are many students with high needs, all students show academic growth throughout the year with engaging and meaningful lessons and activities. I would like to continue with the development of a safe friendly environment that is literacy-rich.
My Project
Students will be delighted in the morning and afternoon with new materials in their centers. In the morning, students attend a rotation of literacy centers. While they are in small groups, some will be in total comfort in the scoop rockers while they read. Others will be in a group building words with new magnet letters. Another group will be engaged in a game of Zingo or they will be sequencing picture cards before they write.
In the afternoons students will have the opportunity to experience centers with delightful choices as they build foundation skills.
They can develop math, science, and spatial and fine motor skills through play with Magna-Tiles. Students will have access to wooden tiles that they can flip to self check addition and subtraction equations. Others centers would include Zingo and ten frame dice for games that develop number sense.
I truly believe that the students will be delighted with new supplies for their centers all throughout the day! They will enjoy learning in comfort and have fun with peers academically and socially.
